The National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union (NEHAWU) in the Eastern Cape Province will be convening its 13th Provincial Congress from the 4th to the 6th May 2021 under the theme “Strengthen workplace organisation, deepen class consciousness and advance internationalism” in East London.
The congress will assess the work of the organisation in the past four years and plan for the next four years including electing a new leadership. Furthermore, the congress will analyse the global balance of forces, the political situation in the country, and the socio-economic realities facing the working class and the poor especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and the crippling effects of austerity measures by the government of the day.
On the first day of the Congress the President of NEHAWU, Comrade Mzwandile Makwayiba, will give the keynote address while fraternal organisation will give messages of support.
Members of the media are invited to attend and cover this workers parliament.
